Recent solar flare activity

November 11, 2025: An X4.0 flare from active region AR4274.

November 10, 2025: An X1.2 flare and a X1.1 flare were reported.

November 5, 2025: Two X-class flares were reported: an X1.8 and an X1.1.

November 11, 2025: An X5.1 flare was observed. 

Effect of flares on Schumann resonance

The intensity of the X-ray radiation from solar flares is linked to changes in the Schumann resonance frequencies.

Flares can increase the conductivity of the D-layer, a part of the ionosphere that interacts with Schumann resonances.

The increase in conductivity can cause the Schumann resonance frequencies to shift upward by several tenths of a Hz.

The magnitude of the frequency shift is proportional to the intensity of the X-ray radiation from the flare.
